Otolaryngology Department

Otolaryngology is the medical specialism responsible for the pathologies affecting the ears, nostrils, pharynx, larynx and the structures related to the head and neck.

More specifically, we are referring to medical and surgical treatment of the diseases of the ears, such as the loss of hearing, ear infections, balance disturbances, noises in the ears (tinnitus), ear pains (otalgia), facial nerve alternations or malformations of the ear canal or the pinna.

We also care for the nostrils and the paranasal sinuses (including allergic and infectious rhinitis, nasal breathing problems and defects altering the appearance of the nasal pyramid), the pathologies of the upper respiratory channels, swallowing alterations and voice disorders, as well as infectious diseases, tumours, trauma and defects affecting the head and neck, and reconstructive surgery.

In the department, we have the following units:

  • Paediatric Otolaryngology.
  • Oncology and Head and Neck Surgery.
  • Early Diagnosis of Pharynx-Larynx Cancer, NBI Videoendoscopy.
  • Balance Disorders.
  • Voice and Language.
  • Snoring.
  • Video-somnoscopy.

 

CONNECTED MULTIDISCIPLINARY UNITS:

These al units are conceived to perform the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of patients who, due to their uniqueness, management difficulty or simply due to the need to achieve an early diagnosis, a more specific and multidisciplinary assessment. They are led by doctors with specific training in the different areas.
